What do Lena D’Água, Ana Deus, Anabela Duarte, Manuela Azevedo or Xana have in common? They all have a place in the history of Portuguese rock music and are part of a group of 15 women whose musical careers will be celebrated, starting March 8th – International Women’s Day – at the Casa Comum (to the Rectory) of Oporto University, within the scope of the exhibition Mulheres que Fazem Barulho!

Organised by Casa Comum – Cultura U.Porto and by the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto, with the scientific curator Paula Guerra and the artistic curator Alexandre Lourenço, this unprecedented exhibition is born with the purpose of honouring “relevant women of Portuguese rock” since the post-April 25 until the present day. To do so, it proposes to tell their stories through records, cassettes, clothes, props, scribbles of lyrics, staves, drumsticks, musical instruments, among other objects that marked their respective careers.

On view until September 30, 2022, this exhibition opens to the public on March 9 and has free admission.
